Fairground Conference 2012: Early Bird Registration

As part of the program, YACWA is happy to present an international keynote speaker:

Fiona Blacke CEO National Youth Agency UK

Fiona Blacke is a professionally qualified youth and community worker with a Masters degree. Born in London the bulk of her professional practice and experience was gained in Scotland in both rural and urban settings, initially as a grass roots worker. She later moved to regional and then national roles supporting policy and practice in the spheres of staff training and development, adult learning and finally youth issues.

Fiona took on the role on Chief Executive of Connexions, a youth and adult support service in UK and in 2004 she joined the Learning and Skills Centre as Executive Director in South Yorkshire and, following their restructuring, Regional Director of Learning and Performance Centre in Yorkshire and Humber.

She has been Chief Executive of the National Youth Agency UK, since the summer of 2007 since when she has driven a radical reshaping and refocusing of the Agency.

Her keynote will focus on topics including youth participation and the criminalisation of young people following the UK Riots in 2011.

Sexual Health Foundations

Below is a link to a comprehensive five day theory course is designed for nurses and other health professionals wishing to develop a sound understanding of core sexual and reproductive health issues, and skills to work effectively with individuals to promote sexual health. It provides a solid foundation on which to build further skills in sexual health education or clinical practice. The interactive mode of delivery makes this graduate level course appropriate, accessible, challenging and engaging for professionals
from a range of backgrounds.

GDHR PD - March 2012

Growing and Developing Healthy Relationships PD has a definite and positive impact on teacher willingness and effectiveness as educators in this (relationships and sexuality education) area.

In 2012 WA Health Education Services continues to provide face-to-face professional learning opportunities for school staff responsible for sexuality and relationships education using recent resources including Growing and Developing Healthy Relationships (GDHR) Years P–10.
